CSIH organizes study tours for clients in project countries to give healthcare providers and officials an opportunity to learn about health systems from a Canadian perspective. Study tours last from one to two weeks, and generally focus on a particular component of the health system, such as disease management programs, health policy, e-health, health management and service delivery.
Study tour activities include formal presentations on key topics, round-table discussions with Canadian officials and health providers, and site visits to various locations demonstrating best practices. The host organizations are encouraged to speak frankly about their work so that participants can learn from both positive and negative experiences. CSIH promotes reciprocal learning, and encourages participants to discuss practices that work and don’t work in their country, and draw comparisons between the different systems.
CSIH has numerous partners across Canada who host delegations for site visits and workshops and identify specialists from different fields to teach delegates about components of the Canadian health system, at the federal, provincial, municipal and facility levels.
