The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is responsible for many databases and
registries that capture information across the continuum of health care services in Canada.
This information supports research and analysis for planning and policy making purposes. All
CIHI's data holdings are subject to strict privacy and confidentiality principles set out in
CIHI Principles and Policies for the Protection of Health Information.

The Cochrane Library is a unique source of reliable and up-to-date information
on the effects of interventions in health care. Published on a quarterly basis, The
Cochrane Library is designed to provide information and evidence to support
decisions taken in health care and to inform those receiving care. The Cochrane
Library consists of a regularly updated collection of evidence-based medicine databases.

MEASURE - Collecting and Using Data for Informed Decisions in Population, Health, and Nutrition
Funded in 1997 by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), MEASURE includes five projects--dedicated to providing accurate and timely information on population, health, and nutrition in developing countries. The projects offer technical services in data collection, analysis, dissemination, and use.

MEDLINE/PubMed - Although most of the significant medical periodicals published
in developed countries are indexed in the MEDLINE database and similar tools, there
is still a considerable amount of important and valuable medical and health documentation
from countries outside the major industrialized areas which is not
included. This material therefore receives less global visibility in spite of its often higher
relevance for other developing countries.

Regional health and medical databases have been compiled to complement the internationally
known bibliographical indexes such as MEDLINE from the US National Library of Medicine.
