"My internship ended in a bang with my presentation at the national conference of telecentres in Puebla State, Mexico. I was invited to speak at this conference about the uses of the Internet for health. I prepared a Power Point presentation where I outlined my project and the major challenges that I faced when I implemented this educational program. Then, I showed my Web site and the resources available on it. This workshop of mine was very useful because many people were interested in finding information on the Internet about Health. At this conference, I also made many contacts who were interested in using my course materials in their telecentres or specific organizations throughout Mexico. This conference was two days before my flight to Canada and I feel that it was a perfect conclusion to my internship. I believe that these internships offered by the Canadian Society of International Health are a great opportunity for people like me who are interested in gaining experience in the field of health and traveling to another country. I have evolved so much as a person from this internship, making important realizations about my future goals, my abilities and my capacity to achieve whatever I put my mind to. Another aspect of my internship I will never forget is the kindness that I was shown and the friendships that I was blessed with during my stay in Mexico. That country has such a rich culture and such a beautiful language that I am glad to say I am now adequately fluent in. An internship like this is not right for everyone but I am glad that I made the decision to face this challenge and triumphed! " Rosario - Mexico, 2001 | |
