When will I know if my application has been accepted?

This date will vary according to the time of year. However, please allow approximately 2 weeks from the date the applications are reviewed (this date is posted on the web page with the available placements).  An initial screening of applicants is done by CSIH, then applications are forwarded to the host organization for final selection. You will be contacted once we have received your application and we will keep you updated on the status of it.

Can I apply for more than one placement?

Yes.  However, your application will only be forwarded to one host organization at a time.  Please make sure you list the placements in order of preference.

Are the dates for placements negotiable?

Sometimes the host organization is flexible with the dates. Please send us an email with the dates of your availability.  However, please note that most placements must last for a total of 6 consecutive months.

Have any of the placements listed been filled already?

As soon as a participant is identified, the listing for the placement is removed from the web page, so the available listings are always up-to-date.

I've already done a similar placement with another organization. Does that disqualify me for CSIH placements?

If your previous placement was funded through the Youth Employment Strategy (YES), then you are ineligible to participate in another YES placement.  Currently, sponsors are CIDA, Industry Canada in association with CIDA (not under YES) and Health Canada (also not under YES). YES is no longer the main source of funding, which will make those participants interested eligible to re-apply for placements that do not fall under the YES category.

Should my application be in English or in French?

Please use the language with which you feel most comfortable.  Where needed, your statement can be translated by CSIH.
