MentorNet
What is MentorNet?
MentorNet is a new national program that aims to connect students and young
professionals (SYPs) interested in global health with individuals experienced in
the field. MentorNet intends to serve as a vehicle for enhancing SYPs’
knowledge, interest, and capacity to contribute to this rapidly expanding field.
How does MentorNet work?
Mentors will be partnered with a SYP interested in their area of work. The pair
will maintain monthly correspondence either in person, over the phone or by
email. Every month reading materials (i.e., news story, academic article, online
module) will be provided to start a conversation. The expected time commitment
is 1-5 hours per month for a period of a year.
Why should I sign up?
Benefits to the students and young professionals:
- Opportunity to create relationships with
leading professionals in area of interest
- Chance to discuss career aspirations
- Opportunity to enhance understanding of
current global health issues
Benefits to mentors:
- Opportunity to share your passion with the
next generation of globally minded citizens
- Opportunity to discuss current global health
challenges with eager young minds
- Chance to support the next cohort of global
health leaders
How do I apply?
We are currently accepting applications for SYPs and mentors for the 2011-12
program year. The deadline for applications is Oct. 7, 2011 at 11:59 EST.
