CSIH membership provides you with a broad network
Interested in the important role health plays in society's development ? Then
consider membership in CSIH. We link individuals and organizations from all
health sectors, help develop professional skills at home and abroad, advocate
for health policy development, and promote awareness of health issues.

Membership Categories
Membership in CSIH is voluntary and open to all disciplines. CSIH members
include medical doctors, nurses, epidemiologists, health economists, policy
planners, political and social scientists and specialists representing a broad
range of health-related professions. Membership is available to individuals
anywhere in the world working in, or interested in, international health and the
objectives of CSIH. CSIH encourages membership from those in other countries.
CSIH categories of membership are:
- Regular: Individuals from the above disciplines and medical residents.
- Student/Retired/Non-Wage Earner: Individuals who are currently enrolled in
post-secondary educational programs from the above disciplines or those who
have retired from positions and are no longer earning a wage.
- Organizational: Organizations who have a commitment to international
health may designate two persons as representatives. These individuals will be
extended all the privileges of regular membership. The organization itself,
however, cannot hold office in CSIH.
- Supporter and Benefactor: Individuals who wish to make a more substantial
contribution to the work of the Society. Members at these levels will receive
the same services as regular and organizational members. (See membership

- Conjoint: Applies to an individual who wishes to be a member of CSIH and
the Canadian Public Health Association. Selecting this option provides full
membership in both organizations.
CSIH special memberships are:
All nominations for CSIH special memberships should be submitted to the
Membership Committee. The Membership Committee reviews all nominations and makes
recommendations to the CSIH Board of Directors for approval.
Life Membership: The CSIH may confer a Life Membership on any
member of the Society who has rendered long and meritorious service to the
society. The number of such memberships may not exceed one per year. A Life
Member does not pay a membership fee, and is entitled to vote at meetings.
Honorary Membership: The CSIH, in exceptional circumstances, may
confer an Honorary Membership for the lifetime of any person (not necessarily a
member of the Society) who has rendered distinguished services in the
furtherance of the Society's mission and goal for which it is incorporated. The
number of such memberships may not exceed one per year. An Honorary Member does
not pay a membership fee, and is entitled to vote at meetings.
Complementary Membership: The CSIH may confer a Complementary
Membership to any member of the Society who has rendered or is rendering special
services to the Society and promotes its goals and objectives. These memberships
are subject to renewal on an annual basis. A Complementary Member does not pay a
membership fee, and is entitled to vote at meetings.
Membership Benefits
Every CSIH member:
- Receives CSIH's electronic news bulletins on a monthly basis, Synergy On-Line:
the primary focus is notices, bulletins and job listings in international health
and development
- Receives discounts on CSIH publications;
- Reduced registration fees at Society-sponsored conferences and workshops;
- Members are given priority to participate in Society-sponsored projects;
- Eligible to run for office in CSIH and vote at Annual General Meetings.
