Application and Acceptance Procedures

If you are interested in a GCGH self-sponsored Global Health internship, send your resume and a brief description of the kind of internship you are looking for and your learning/experience objectives and career goals, electronically to internship@csih.org  CSIH will acknowledge receipt of applications within 10 working days and indicate whether we expect to be able to arrange an internship to meet your needs and how long it will likely take.

Please allow 4 to 8 weeks for CSIH to identify appropriate internship opportunities to offer you. CSIH has opportunities for near immediate placement for candidates qualified to help overseas partner organizations with specific capacity-building needs. (See Opportunities and Eligibility.) Applications will first be reviewed against existing opportunities. If no good match exists, CSIH will contact appropriate international partner organizations to determine whether and where a need exists for an intern with your particular qualifications and career goals. When internships are designed to very specific requirements the process of developing Terms of Reference in consultation with the appropriate overseas host/partner organization may take longer than 8 weeks.

Please note that CSIH cannot guarantee the ability to find appropriate opportunities for every applicant. However, CSIH’s vast networks and large number of organizations which have benefitted from CSIH interns and would like to have further assistance ensures that we will be able to satisfy the specific needs and objectives of very many applicants with appropriate educational qualifications, backgrounds and interests.

If CSIH is successful in identifying or developing an internship experience which meets your needs and which you wish to accept, both the host agency and CSIH will conduct telephone interviews to assure themselves that you possess the knowledge, skills and personal attributes required for the assignment. Individual placements, once detailed Terms of Reference are drafted, must be approved by a CSIH Advisory Committee to ensure their value in terms of contributing to the strengthening of health systems. The administrative fee of $1,500 for an internship over 3 months or $1,000 for a short-term placement is due when the host agency and CSIH have confirmed their intention to proceed with a specific placement and a letter of agreement is sent to you for your signature.

We look forward to hearing from you at internship@csih.org
