Global Citizens for Global Health
Opportunities and EligibilityGCGH placements will be of interest to students and graduates of: public health, international health, international development, health promotion, public administration, information communications technology (ICT), human resource management, hospital administration, and disaster risk management. CSIH currently has partner organizations willing to mentor young Canadian interns in exchange for systems-strengthening assistance in areas such as: maternal and child health, chronic disease prevention, tobacco control, health promotion and education, community health, disaster risk management, evidence-based decision-making, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Health Information Systems (HIS), and programming to combat HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases. Global Citizens for Global Health placements are funded by the participants themselves. Consequently, they are open to students who are still in the process of completing graduate degrees. The nature of the work interns will be asked to perform is such that an undergraduate diploma or degree is required. As the program is intended to provide work experience to Canadian citizens, promote global citizenship and increase Canadians’ involvement in global health, it is restricted to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
