Global Citizens for Global Health

Program Objectives

The Global Citizens for Global Health program is primarily intended to assist students and young Canadian health professionals in the identification and conduct of self-sponsored internships in global health, when suitable paid opportunities are not available. In addition to helping to fill the gap between paid internship opportunities and the high demand for international health internships, other objectives of the GCGH program are to:

  • provide valuable capacity-building assistance and skills-transfer related to Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) to overseas partner organizations;

  • strengthen CSIH’s international partnerships;

  • promote professional and volunteer engagement and train future leaders in global health;

  • promote global citizenship and greater public engagement, passion and commitment for Canada’s unique role in global health.
