Conference Date Q. When and where will the Canadian Conference on Global Health 2010 take place? A. The Canadian Conference on Global Health will take place from Sunday October 31st – Wednesday November 3rd at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 101 Lyon Street N., Ottawa, Ontario. Canada.
Submission Forms Q. Where can I get the submission forms to apply to present at the Canadian Conference on Global Health? A. Abstract submission forms can be downloaded from the Canadian Society on International Health website at www.csih.org.
Q. How do I complete the abstract submission forms? A. The abstract submission forms are fillable and you will be able to type or paste your abstract directly into them. The forms are text locked to CSIH requirements and will not accept BOLD or ITALICS in some cells. Please use plain text only when completing the forms.
Paper/Poster Presentations Q. I applied for a Paper presentation and received a letter for a Poster presentation. Why is this so? A. The Canadian Conference on Global Health (formerly the Canadian Conference on International Health) is currently in its 17th year and the interest in presenting at the conference has increased dramatically since its inception in 1993. Usually it is only possible to place just 90 abstracts as paper presentation. Subsequently, it may be necessary to place your abstract as a poster. The review committee is extremely interested in poster presentations and general interest in poster sessions has grown over the years. We consider poster presentations to be an essential part of the success of this conference and have thus organized two scheduled poster sessions. Each session will be grouped by theme which facilitates discussion groups and interaction with participants.
Letter of Confirmation Q. When will I receive a Letter of Confirmation? A. All letters are scheduled to be sent out by mid June and include the type of presentation (paper / poster), the theme, time, date and room of the presentation. Please check the website for further details and date confirmations. If by this date you have not received your Letter of Confirmation, please check your spam / junk folders. You should also check your alternate email address (provided on your submission form) as this address may be used in case of mail delivery failures. If you have changed email address, please check the email address you provided on the application form. For further information regarding your Letter of Confirmation please contact nspooner@csih.org.
Q. We would like to have more than one presenter at the conference. In order to get a visa we need another Letter of Confirmation. Can you please send another Letter of Confirmation in my Colleague’s name? A. While we understand it can be difficult obtaining visas, the Canadian Conference on Global Health is not permitted to send out multiple Letters of Confirmation. Due to the possibility of fraudulent claims, we will only issue a Letter of Confirmation to the Primary Applicant. Should you register for the conference, you will receive a letter stating that you have registered. You may submit this letter and a copy of the abstract to apply for your visa. NOTE: Please note that it is your responsibility to obtain a valid visitor visa at the Canadian Embassy prior to arriving in Canada in order to attend this Conference. A letter of invitation, or registration, does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. Visa officers assess the applicant to determine whether they meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Funding Q. I would like to accept my invitation to attend the conference; however, I would require funding in order to do so. Are there scholarships, waived registrations or is there other funding available? A. The Canadian Conference on Global Health is heavily dependent on funding from outside sources. Our ability to provide scholarships, waived registrations and travel subsidies is only possible if we receive funding, and, unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer any financial assistance. We would suggest that you seek funding from organizations and institutions in your area.
